Today's Tech Tip - Performance and Visual Effects
You might find your computer becoming a little slower since you last defragmented or formatted. With Windows XP, you can adjust the usage of visual effects on your basic desktop in order to cut your computer some slack. Here's how:
1. Right click My Computer>>Advanced Tab
2. Under Performance, click on Settings
3. In the Visual Effects tab, have 'Adjust for best performance' checked
This will cancel all the little effects on your desktop, such as showing window contents while dragging. Without all these animations, fades, shadoes, etc., your performance will be slightly better.
Going to the Advanced Tab under Performance Options can lead you to Virtual memory. You can adjust that as well but it is a different story altogether. Enjoy.
